Randomness

I don't really have much to say for this blog entry, but felt like I needed to update.  =)  Here's some randomness.  Hope you enjoy!

  • I love that Caleb absolutely LOVES school!  Of course, it's just Kindergarten and years from now, I may not be saying the same thing, but I'll take what I can get.  Every day when I get home from work and ask him how school was, he simply replies, "Awesome!"
  • Lydia is almost walking.  She will walk while holding a hand now, but just hasn't gotten the courage up yet to step out on her own.
  • I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year.  Our first Christmas as a family of four.  There was a time when I didn't know if we'd ever be a family of four so I am truly thankful!
  • We're on vacation the week after Christmas and I CANNOT WAIT!  Anthony and I were thinking of  checking into getting tickets to the Music City Bowl to see UT.  Not sure if this will happen or not.  If not, I'm looking forward to just being home with the kids and playing with all the new toys I know they'll get for Christmas.
That's about all I've got for now.  Hope to update more in the next few days.  I'm going to try to do better next year with blogging.  I've got some cute pictures of the kids that I'll try to post by the next week.

It's been a while!

I had not realized how long it has been since I updated the blog.  Thanks to the urging of my sister-in-law, Nikki, I have made it a point to make an update.

Things are quite a buzz around the Morgan household.  Caleb's in Kindergarten and loving it.  Lydia is crawling EVERYWHERE!  We've been busy with one thing after another which is why I have been a slacker on the blog.

We are gearing up for Halloween and trying to find a costume for Little Miss.  Caleb's has been chosen for quite some time now.  I will post pictures once I get Lydia a costume.  Hopefully, I'll find one within the next couple of days.

As the holiday season quickly approaches, I have been thinking more and more about the things for which I am so thankful.  Anthony and I are both so thankful for the Lord's blessings in our lives.  He has blessed us with each other, two wonderful children and a host of family and friends.

Here's a few pictures of Lydia.  We hope to have some more family pictures made around Christmas time.

8 Weeks Already!

On Friday, Lydia turned 8 weeks old!  It is so hard to believe that it has already been 2 months since she was born.  How time flies!  I took her to the doctor for her shots and her 2 month check up.  She weighed 10 lbs 14 oz and was 22 inches long.  She is growing so fast!  She'll be bigger than Caleb soon!

She developed some congestion on Thusrday night which kept getting worse.  We ended up taking a trip to Children's Hospital last night to have her checked out.  She got her nose suctioned out, a breathing treatment and chest x-rays.  The x-rays were clear which is great.  We have to do breathing treatments every 4 hours and suction her nose out every 3 hours.  It's going to be a rough and long next couple of days.

Easter

This was Lydia's first Easter.  She had a very pretty green dress that she wore.  Caleb looked very handsome in his pink shirt and tie.  He had to dress just like his Daddy, so Anthony wore his pink shirt and tie, too!

Lydia's Arrival Story

I had my 38 week check-up on February 11th.  I was on the schedule to be induced on the 15th, so the doctor had me do a final non-stress test and ultrasound to make sure everything was still looking good.  I started having contractions while hooked up for the non-stress test.  I didn't really think much about them because I had been having contractions for a while, they just weren't amounting to anything.  The ultrasound showed Lydia was still head down and looking great and estimated her to weigh 7 lbs 12 oz.  So, with everything looking good, the doctor sent me on my way and said "I'll see you Monday morning."

I got back to work that afternoon and just did not feel well.  The contractions were still coming, but I didn't really notice that they were getting closer together because I was focused on trying to get everything done at work that I possibly could as I wouldn't be working anymore after that week.  The contractions became increasingly worse on the drive home and it was all I could do to focus on the road and just get home as quick as I could.

When I got home, I had Anthony start timing the contractions.  They were 10 minutes apart and were lasting for 1-2 minutes each.  I called the nurse on call at my doctor's office and she instructed me to head to Labor & Delivery to get checked out.  So, we called Megan (Anthony's sister) to come pick up Caleb so we could go to the hospital.

We got to the hospital around 7 pm on Thursday, February 11th.  After being hooked up to the monitors for awhile, the doctor checked me and I was at 3 cm.  She made me walk around the L&D floor for 1 hour then she checked me again.  (**Side note:  I will share stories about what was seen/heard while walking in another post.  It was too funny!)  After walking, I had dialated to 4 cm, so I was admitted.  By this time, it is 11:30 pm.  We are already tired and very hungry - we didn't eat before going to the hospital and we should have!  Anthony started making the phone calls to let everyone know we would be staying the night and that Lydia was on her way.

Thankfully, I was able to sleep through most of the night and my contractions.  The doctor came in at 8 am and checked me again.  I was at 5 cm.  She broke my water and I immediately went to 7 cm.  I asked for the epidural at this point.  The anesthesiologist came in at 9 am to give the epidural.  A little while after he was done, I told my nurse that I was feeling some pain on my left side.  He checked me and said I was at 10 cm and it was baby time!  I started pushing at 10 am and Lydia was born at 10:14am weighing 8 lbs and was 21 1/4 inches long!

6 days to go and now this?!!

So, I am officially being induced at 7:30 am on Monday.  At my last appointment, my sugar levels were a little high, so the doc wanted me to track them.  So, being the good little patient that I am, I have been pricking my finger after every meal since Friday.  I got a call today from the doctor (after I called to report my findings) stating that my levels were horrible and that I now have gestational diabetes.  I had to immediately go to the hospital to meet with the Diabetes Specialist to figure out what to do.  So, with 6 days left to go I now have to give myself shots before every meal.  This is all, of course, to make sure Lydia arrives healthy.  The Diabetes Specialist said that once Lydia arrives I should feel better and not have anymore issues.  We just have to get my sugar regulated now, so that Lydia will be able to keep her sugar regulated.  Please pray for us that all will go smoothly!

The end is near!

I went to the doctor on Friday and am still only at 3 cm.  However, we set an induction date.  Lydia's eviction notice has been served!  If I do not go into labor on my own this week, then I will be induced on the 15th.  So, one week from tomorrow we will have us a baby!  I am so glad the doctor allowed us to set a date.  I now have a goal to shoot for.

My sugar was a little high on Friday, too.  Now I have to take my blood sugar levels when I first get up and after every meal.  I'm keeping track of them and I have to call the doctor tomorrow and let her know what they have been.  If they are really bad, she'll have me come back in prior to my next appointment on Thursday to be checked again.

So, the end is finally here.  It's been a rough pregnancy and I have probably complained A LOT, but I know that it will be worth it when I see her precious face.  I am excited for her to get here and wish she would hurry up!

Only 3 weeks to go!

I will be 37 weeks on Monday, 2/1/2010!  I went to the doctor yesterday for my 36 week appt.  I tested negative for the Group B Strep, but the doctor said she would probably treat me for it anyway since I had it with Caleb.  So, it will be an automatic 2 day stay in the hospital when Lydia arrives.  I told the doctor how bad I was feeling and that I was over this pregnancy.  She took some blood and I am anemic.  So, I now get to take iron pills twice a day.  She also gave me something to help me sleep at night.  Then, she checked me and I am dialated to 3 cm!  Progress!  Because I felt so bad, she did a non-stress test and an ultrasound on Lydia.  Lydia is doing great.  She measures right where she should be and the ultrasound tech estimated her weight to be 6 lbs 8 oz as of right now.  With a few more weeks to grow, she'll probably weigh more than Caleb did when he was born!  The doctor told me she would pray for me to go early and told me it was okay to ask everyone else to do the same.  So, please, please, please pray that Lydia will decide to arrive early!  I just can't take it anymore!

Latest Update on Lydia

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 35 week check-up. I had an ultrasound to make sure that Lydia is head down. She is, which is good. That means she's getting ready to make her entrance into this world. The ultrasound tech also said she has lots of hair on the back of her head! We could see it sticking out on the screen. She has really chubby cheeks and a big nose! She looks like she's going to be bigger than Caleb was. She's sooo cute! I'll post a picture as soon as I can get it scanned.

I also had to have the Group B Strep test at this appointment. I'll spare the details, but it is not a fun test. I should get the results of it next week when I go back for my next appointment. I tested positive for the Group B Strep with Caleb and it meant an automatic 2 day stay in the hospital. I asked the nurse what the odds were for testing positive again and she said they were really good. So, I'm planning for another positive test and 2 day stay. If the results are negative, then great!

We took Caleb to his sibling preparation class last week and got the hospital tour. They've remodeled everything since I had Caleb so it looks so much nicer than it did. Caleb had a great time at the class. He was so cute listening to the nurse tell him what all mommy was going to do and where she was going to be.

The hospital has put restrictions on visitors due to the flu season. No one under the age of 14 (with the exception of siblings) is allowed to come visit. So, that means our siblings, niece and nephews and some friends with children will have to wait to come see us at home unless they come without the children. Either way is okay I guess, I just know that some wanted to be a part of our day and come to the hospital.

So, we're down to basically 4 weeks. If I go anytime after I hit 37 weeks, which will be the first week in February, they will not stop my labor. Let's just hope we can get past Caleb's birthday so Lydia can arrive on a day all her own!

6 Weeks to Go!

Pregnancy Glitter Graphics from dolliecrave.com

Today marks the 6 weeks remaining point in this pregnancy! It's hard to believe that after all this, Lydia will be here in 6 weeks or less! I am so ready for her to get here. I'm getting tired of being pregnant (it's been a rough pregnancy) and am just ready to see her and find out what she looks like. Caleb is getting even more excited to be a Big Brother. We're taking him tomorrow to a sibling preparation class. I'm interested to see how he reacts to learning how to help Mommy and Daddy care for a baby.

I go back to the doctor on January 20th for an ultrasound to make sure Lydia is head down. From there, I begin going to the doctor weekly to check in on her.

Please keep us in your prayers! It's just been the three of us for so long, we will all have some adjusting to do when we become a family of four!
